Youth Pastor
June 2018
As the busy school year is coming to an end with final exams, concerts, signing yearbooks, last goodbyes to friends, and upcoming graduations, we take this moment to honor our talented youth.
This issue's Youth Spotlight cover image was created by an amazing artist, Cindy Shing, one of our 7th graders, who responded to our past teaching series, “We Are Family,” with a drawing to represent our VIBE youth group family!
I am so proud of all of the various talents within our youth. I love it when they share their activities and accomplishments with us, so that we can come and support them and see them shine outside of church. I have had the pleasure and honor to attend the following youth events and award ceremonies this quarter:
Julia Hagan, 11th grade — was featured at the Colors of Motion dance showcase at The Kings Academy, and also received the Bible Department Award at the school awards ceremony.
Rey Valui, 10th grade — ran the 100, 400, and 4x100 on the track team. He was awarded the AP European History Department Award, and also performed in the string orchestra concert at Santa Clara High School.
Jasmine Thor, 9th grade — performed in the concert choir at Santa Clara High School.
Ayla Fung, 8th grade — performed in the jazz band, concert choir, worship team, and also delivered her first TED-style Talk on "Human Trafficking" at San Jose Christian School.
Cindy Shing, 7th grade — qualified for league trials, ran the 100, 4x100, and competed in the long jump for Monroe Middle School.
We look forward to seeing more of our youth in their element!
“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
We are proud of our upcoming graduates! Join us June 10th, when we will acknowledge each graduate during our worship service.
