Youth Pastor
April 2019
Today’s Christian youths find themselves living in a culture that is antagonistic to much of what they believe. Against this backdrop, how do they know how to engage with the culture in a way that keeps their influence intact, but keeps them from being negatively impacted by the world? The good news is that Jesus had lots to say about this.
The VIBE Youth Group just completed a 4-week study on "Jesus and Culture," which helped our youth understand how to live as Christ-followers in the world. They learned how to embrace being separate from the world, but still live in it; how their lives as Christ-followers are counter-cultural; how they are affected by what they consume of the culture through media and entertainment; and that Christ’s ultimate goal for them is to embrace holiness in their interactions with the culture. Thanks to our amazing youth mentors, Danijela, William, Derek and Max, who taught this engaging series and incorporated their own personal experiences.
"For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." 1 John 2:16-17
