Youth Pastor
March 2023

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1NLT) The VIBE Youth Group started to prepare for winter camp since the beginning of the year. We were excited to bring new students that have never been to Camp Sugar Pine before. Last year there was snow on the ground but this year snow was falling all week, creating a beautiful winter wonderland. Twenty of us departed this past Friday afternoon after we prayed and took a group photo. Three hours later we stopped for dinner.

A few minutes after we started our final 2 hour drive to camp, I received a call from the camp director that winter camp was cancelled because of road closures and heavy snowfall. Immediately, I shared the sad news with the youth and they thought I was joking. Then the van became very quiet as Jerry Cintas drove us back home. It did not feel right to go home so I suggested we lock-in and have a sleepover at church. Instantly, the youth roared and were excited as if we were headed to the snow. In less than three hours we were inside the fellowship hall and made forts out of furniture to sleep in, ate tasty pizza, and played a fun game with flashlights.

Later, we worshipped God, and Pastor Jonathan preached on "there is a time for everything," which led to one youth receiving salvation. We were in awe of the Holy Spirit moving, drawing the youth closer to each other and to the Lord.

The youth enjoyed free time for the rest of the night, with a movie screening, hot chocolate, popcorn, and plenty of candy.

Saturday morning we woke up to a delicious breakfast (better than camp food) prepared by Greg and Christine Robbins, which the youth appreciated.

After breakfast we played a super fun game that became competitive. We ended our winter camp with beautiful worship. Pastor Jonathan gave a message on "Seen," and another youth decided to give their life to Christ, woo hoo!
