Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
The Ancient-Future Church is a 6-week summer sermon series whose main focus is on "How To Have an Unshakable Faith to Rejoice in Trying Times." This series is designed to help you build an enduring faith, and to bear abundant and lasting fruit in the post-pandemic world.
THE PROBLEM
1. THE GALATIANS TURNED AWAY TO A DIFFERENT GOSPEL
"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel." Galatians 1:6
2. THE GALATIANS HAD A RACIAL PROBLEM
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28
Was There A Way For The Churches of Galatia To Be True To The Gospel ?
Yes, There Was.
THE SOLUTION
"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Galatians 5:16
1. NO LAW AGAINST SPIRITUAL FRUIT
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
You do NOT need permission to be kind to others.
There is no law against goodness.
2. WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Be crucified with Christ: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me." Galatians 2:20
"When Christ lives in you, your conduct is consistent with His character."
THE FRUIT
1. LOVE, JOY, PEACE: EXPERIENCE THEM INTERNALLY
- When you walk in the Spirit, what you EXPERIENCE is consistent to Jesus' nature.
- What you experience when you walk in the Spirit will help you build enduring and unshakable faith.
2. LONG-SUFFERING, KINDNESS, GOODNESS: EXPRESS THEM OUTWARDLY
- When you walk in the Spirit, you EXPRESS a character that is consistent with Jesus' nature.
- How you engage others when you walk in the Spirit will help you build an enduring faith in them.
3. FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL: EDIFY CONSISTENTLY
- When you walk in the Spirit, you EXERCISE and cultivate virtues that are consistent with Jesus' character.
- What you consistently cultivate will help you build enduring and unshakable faith.
THE CHALLENGE
- 1. EXPERIENCE CHRIST DAILY
- 2. EXPRESS CHRIST DAILY
- 3. EXERCISE CHRIST-LIKENESS DAILY
