Revelation 3:20
HERE I AM! I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. IF ANYONE HEARS MY VOICE AND OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN AND EAT WITH THEM, AND THEY WITH ME. REVELATION 3:20
LUKE 12 - SELL YOUR POSSESSIONS AND GIVE TO THE NEEDY.
1 TIMOTHY 6 - COMMAND THE RICH TO DO GOOD AND TO BE GENEROUS AND WILLING TO SHARE.
"NO-ONE CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS. EITHER YOU WILL HATE THE ONE AND LOVE THE OTHER, OR YOU WILL BE DEVOTED TO THE ONE AND DESPISE THE OTHER. YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY." MATTHEW 6 VS 24
MONEY HOLDS OUT THE ALLURE OF GAINING GODLIKE SOVEREIGNTY.
YOU KNOW YOU HAVE MASTERY OVER MONEY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GIVE IT AWAY!
Story (1 Kings 17:8-16):
In 1 Kings 17:8-16, we read the story of the widow at Zarephath facing extreme scarcity. She only has enough flour and oil for one last meal for herself and her son before they prepare to die. Then, the prophet Elijah asks her to trust God's word and provide for him first. The widow does so, and as a result, God miraculously provides an unending supply of food for her household during the drought.
Focus:
The widow at Zarephath had to trust God when her circumstances were dire, choosing to believe in God's provision even when logic told her otherwise.
Question:
Do we trust Jesus with our finances, or do we turn Him into an idol we try to manipulate for financial gain or security?
Application:
Self-Examination: Reflect on how you relate to money. Are there moments when you treat it as a security source more than trusting God? In times of financial uncertainty, do you surrender your situation to God in faith or hold back out of fear?
