Gratitude in All Circumstances

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.Rejoice Always:
- The Day of The Lord- Christ Will Come (1 Thessalonian 5:2)
- We Are Sons and Daughters of Light, Not Darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5)
- "You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness."
Pray Always:
- The Day of the Lord Will Come Suddenly (1 Thessalonians 5:2)
- "For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night."
- False Security (1 Thessalonian 5:3)
- Peace and safety! then sudden destruction
- Gratitude Fortifies Us with Faith and Love (1 Thessalonians 5:8)
- "But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation."
In Everything, Give Thanks:
- God Has Appointed Us to Salvation, Not Wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
- "For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."
- Gratitude Edifies and Unites the Community (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
- "Therefore, comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing."
- Gratitude Fosters Patience and Compassion (1 Thessalonians 5:14)
- "Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all."
- Gratitude Guards Us Against Resentment and Revenge (1 Thessalonians 5:15)
- "See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all."
Summary:
- 1. Rejoice always: God desires for us to experience lasting joy rooted in our relationship with Him, regardless of life's ups and downs.
- 2. Pray without ceasing: Continual prayer keeps us close to God. This constant communication aligns our hearts with His will.
- 3. In everything give thanks: Gratitude helps us see God's grace and purpose in all situations.
