Jesus: From Cradle to Crown
A Savior is Born!
Sunday December 22, 2024 - Pastor Margareth Valui
Luke 2: 11-12

Luke 2: 11-12 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.
  1. Jesus was focused on his purpose (SAVIOR).
  2. He humbled himself, gave up heaven, and became human (BABE).
  3. The MANGER is inclusive.

1. Luke 2: 11 For there is BORN TO YOU this day in the city of David a SAVIOR, who is Christ the Lord.

2:8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Jesus' arrival was announced to shepherds rather than royalty. Christ came for everybody - even for the shepherds, lowly, ordinary, and everyday people. Christmas is about remembering that God takes small and insignificant events and people to do profound works and wonders.

A SAVIOR IS BORN!

He Humbled Himself and became Human.

When Jesus was born, He entered the world in the most humble of settings despite being the King of Kings. He became human. Jesus' humble birth reveals that God's glory and salvation came in the form of a human born in simplicity and humility.

Amplified Version Philippians 2:7, "But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being." Can the Father trust you with the tasks and purpose He has given you?

2. Luke 2: 12 You will find a BABE wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a MANGER

He came as a baby. Born in a stable and laid in a manger,

One thing the manger reveals to us is that Jesus is inclusive. Everyone can approach Jesus.

2: 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Question: In what ways does Jesus' humble birth inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and serve others selflessly and with compassion?

Challenge: This Christmas, consider ways to humble yourself in service to others, just as Jesus did. Look for opportunities to bring love, peace, and goodwill toward those around you.

14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
